Serate d'artista - Fausto Melotti

These are a cycle of evening events, promoted by Open Care in collaboration with other partners and dedicated to the work and memory of a particular artist, consisting in a round table of experts and a Cena d’Artista  [Artist’s Dinner], organised by the Kitchens of the Frigoriferi Milanesi, the restaurant inside the complex.

The first edition of the review, dedicated to a number of great Italian artists from the Milan milieu of the second half of the twentieth century, was organised by Rosalia Pasqualino di Marineo, curator at the Milan Fondazione Piero Manzoni and had as its protagonists: Piero Manzoni, Dadamaino, Fausto Melotti and Gianni Colombo. The dinner, with an exclusive menu inspired by the artists, was created by the chef Antonietta Pasqualino di Marineo.

Paul Klee and Fausto Melotti

The evening was dedicated to a comparison between Paul Klee and Fausto Melotti – a comparison stimulated by the interesting exhibition that the Lugano Museum of Art had dedicated to the subject. The exhibition curators, Guido Comis and Bettina Della Casa, reconstructed the genesis, evolution and outcomes of this fascinating exhibition project: a year of work spent in constant dialogue, not without surprises, with these two great artists.

The Cena d’Artista menu entitled “Tema e variazioni” [Subject and variations] like Melotti’s work, proposed a series of variations on the apple, the Trento apple par excellence from the artist’s region of provenance, as he was born in Rovereto in 1901.
