2006/2007

Advanced training course “Ecclesiastic cultural assets. Management, communication and valorisation of collections” - Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore di Milano

Open Care collaborated with the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore di Milano in the preparation of the advanced training course for ecclesiastical cultural asset operators. The Open Care laboratories hosted the didactic module on conservation and restoration.

The lecture, held by Isabella Villafranca Soissons, Director of the Conservation and Restoration Department, studied some intervention examples on various types of objects such as canvases, frescoed boards, crucifixes (wood, papier-mâché, chalk), silverware, fabric paraments and tackled a number of subjects from the cataloguing of works, the identification of the state of deterioration through to intervention plans.

2008/2009

University Masters (level I) “Inside the image. New methodologies and non-invasive scientific, diagnostic technologies for the conservation of antique and contemporary paintings” -Università degli Studi di Verona

The Masters’ objective was that of perfecting a first degree in the Science of Cultural Assets. Isabella Villafranca Soissons, Open Care’s Director of the Conservation and Restoration Department and Masters lecturer, provided the students with specialist information on the plurality of materials that are encountered when working in the contemporary art environment, on the types of deterioration and the numerous analyses that can be carried out to gain more in-depth information. Furthermore, the most suitable methods and the new intervention techniques for the conservation of contemporary art works were studied.

2010/2011

Post-graduate qualification Masters for Collection/Exhibition Registrar - ENAIP Lombardy Regional Government

The Masters course, prepared by the Lombardy ENAIP [Ente Nazionale ACLI Istruzione Professionale – National ACLI Body for Professional Learning], was born out of a collaboration with the Pole for the Enhancement of Cultural Assets (Lombardy Regional Government – DG Culture, Polytechnic, Università Bicocca and Statale di Milano, Università di Pavia, CNR-ICVBC, Enaip Lombardia) and with other bodies and organisations, including Open Care. The partnership guaranteed a scientific support for the course aimed at training the professional figure of the Collection/Exhibition Registrar for contemporary art and design.
Open Care’s Director of the Conservation and Restoration Department, Isabella Villafranca Soissons, ran a module whose subject was the plurality or materials and the forms of deterioration that can be encountered when approaching contemporary art.

2012/2014

International, interdisciplinary training course “Plastics in art and for art”, polymers as base and restoration materials for Cultural Assets” – Naples Plart Museum

The training path, divided into base and advanced modules, aimed to provide chemical and scientific notions about polymeric materials, on deterioration mechanisms, on elements of diagnostic analysis and the knowledge required for the performance of cleaning, maintenance and consolidation processes. Isabella Villafranca Soissons, Open Care’s Director of the Conservation and Restoration Department, was part of the Plart Museum’s Scientific Committee. Over the years, she gave several lectures for the course on the conservation of polymeric materials and on the various synthesis polymers used in restoration, dwelling on treatment problems and the new methods of intervention.

2014

Project: “Conserving by innovating. The restoration company invests in human capital” -  Istituto Veneto per i Beni Culturali

Isabella Villafranca Soissons, Open Care’s Director of the Conservation and Restoration Deparment, tackled the subject of the restoration of acrylic paintings and the problems encountered when dealing with the cleaning of these kinds of materials.
