The volume published on the occasion of the Giovanni Bellini (c. 1435-1516) exhibition held in Rome at the Scuderie del Quirinale between September 2008 and January 2009, aimed to publicise the results of an in-depth campaign of study and non-invasive analyses on seven works by Giovanni Bellini present in Venetian civil and religious architecture.  These analyses, carried out in situ by Open Care’s Conservation and Restoration Department with avant-garde technological tools, allowed them to make a fundamental contribution to the knowledge of the artist’s work, both from a historic-artistic point of view and from one of conservation.  Micro and macro photographs, reflectograms and fluorescent analysis have led to profoundly interesting results with regard to the materials and methods used by the Venetian master, thereby integrating areas of research that are only too often neglected. In the volume, which includes the collaboration of many elements of the Italian Department for Cultural Assets and Activities, including the Art Offices, are an analysis of the works: the Sacred Conversation of S. Zaccaria, The Polyptych of S. Vincenzo Ferreri in the Basilica dei Santi Giovanni e Paolo, the Barbarigio Altarpiece in the church of San Pietro Martire in Murano, the Altarpiece of the Saints Christopher, Jerome and Louis of Toulouse in the church of San Giovanni Crisostomo, the Sacred Conversation Dolfin with San Francesco della Vigna, The Triptych of the Basilica of the Frari and the Pietà in the Palazzo Ducale
