Serate d'artista - Piero Manzoni
These are a cycle of evening events, promoted by Open Care in collaboration with other partners and dedicated to the work and memory of a particular artist, consisting in a round table of experts and a Cena d’Artista [Artist’s Dinner], organised by the Kitchens of the Frigoriferi Milanesi, the restaurant inside the complex.
The first edition of the review, dedicated to a number of great Italian artists from the Milan milieu of the second half of the twentieth century, was organised by Rosalia Pasqualino di Marineo, curator at the Milan Fondazione Piero Manzoni and had as its protagonists: Piero Manzoni, Dadamaino, Fausto Melotti and Gianni Colombo. The dinner, with an exclusive menu inspired by the artists, was created by the chef Antonietta Pasqualino di Marineo.
Piero Manzoni
The Serate d’Artista cycle was inaugurated with a homage to Piero Manzoni in which the Fondazione Piero Manzoni presented the initiatives for the fiftieth anniversary of the artist’s death. The great exhibition presented, first in Frankfurt and subsequently at Palazzo Reale, was discussed with its curator Martin Engler as well as the first biography of Piero Manzoni edited by Flaminio Gualdoni and the documentary film by Andrea Bettinetti, Piero Manzoni artista made with Open Care’s support. Participating in the evening were, amongst others, his sister, Elena Manzoni di Chiosca and his friend and artist Agostino Bonalumi, who both offered personal memories of the artist.
The ad hoc menu created to remember the brilliant artist, interspersed with brief readings of his writings, was entitled Bianco Mangiare [White Food] to recall his Achromes, the candid canvasses with chalk, kaolin, polystyrene, bread rolls and many other materials made by Manzoni between 1957 and 1963.
